Moving…

by blogstarr

Moving houses can take a toll on a person(s)! We are moving into another house after almost 8 years in our current house. You don’t realize just how much stuff you can collect until it is time to start packing and cleaning and throwing away! I am so ready to just throw it all out the front door and start fresh at the new house! LOL Maybe not the furniture but everything  else! Of course there are a lot of keepsakes but then there is just stuff! And I have decided that when we get to the other house, I will not be putting a whole lot out! I want to keep it as clear and clutter free as possible! We’ll still have a very comfortable and welcome home – just less stuff! Plus my goal is to make it much more organized! I’m still teaching and I am still crocheting along with some family health issues – it will be quite a busy month! Keep an eye out for posts about my crochet projects (some items for a friend moving to Maryland and another friend having a baby)! Plus, my brother is getting married on March 17th so I’ll have a cool blog post about that!

Until then…stay sane and happy!

Death by Chocolate…

by blogstarr

So I have been eyeballing this awesome looking chocolate fudge cake for a while on Pinterest. I decided today I needed to bake something (good therapy) and what’s better than Death by Chocolate! (Waiting for Gateau- the website where I got the recipe – calls it Ton-of-Fudge cake!) I’ll let you know how it is when I taste it!
Verdict: It’s quite yummy and fudge-like!!
Here are some photos to make you salivate!

Busy

by blogstarr

Thanks for the post, Nora Howe

I am incredibly busy, and am also a little forgetful. These two things do not go well together for a lot of reasons. I have a million things to do at all times, and am constantly forgetting things on my to do list. A trip to the grocery store is never successful; I always forget at least one thing that I was supposed to buy. I forget birthdays and sometimes I barely remember to brush my teeth in the morning. Another thing I forget to do very frequently? Set my DVR. Frequently, I’ll be out somewhere and remember a show I wanted to record that evening. While this is certainly not a tragedy, it is a little bit of a bummer. When I have down time and want to catch up on my shows, only to find out I don’t have them recorded, I get angry at myself. I recently figured out that I can control my DVR from my smart phone, and it was probably one of my happiest moments. If I’m at the grocery store racking my brain for what else I was supposed to buy, I can quickly hop on my phone, hit record on a show, and voila! It’s waiting for me when I get home. Awesome. I’ve been crafty…

by blogstarr

So, I was crafty for the holidays and made some really awesome ceramic coasters (of which I DID NOT take pictures of) for my in-laws, Mom and other family. I took some really awesome pics of my kids this summer and I printed them in sepia color. I then modge-podged them onto a ceramic tile (that can be bought at Lowe’s for super cheap). Once they dried, I sprayed an acrylic sealer on them to make them water resistant and put some small felt feet one them. They were so easy and turned out so awesome! I will try to take a picture of my in-laws and post them on here. I might even do a quick tutorial (but you can always search Pinterest - my newest addiction)!

After Christmas, we went to the beach for a week (might be another post) so I took a little time off of being craft. But once we got home, I decided to buy my first glue gun EVER. I cannot believe I have never used or owned one before! Here are some cute flowers I have made that will be used as hair and crochet hat accessories. I might even attempt to make and sell them in my Etsy shop! Not the best of pics, but they will have to do for now!
